{"id":234,"date":"2026-04-29T13:56:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T10:56:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nvdu.snu.edu.ua\/en\/?page_id=234"},"modified":"2026-04-29T13:57:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T10:57:19","slug":"policy-on-the-use-of-ai-and-technologies-supporting-it","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/nvdu.snu.edu.ua\/en\/policy-on-the-use-of-ai-and-technologies-supporting-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Policy on the use of AI and technologies supporting it"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"page_title\"><span dir=\"auto\">Policy on the use of AI and technologies supporting it<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">This policy applies to all participants in the editorial process of the Journal, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Authors who submit materials to the Journal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Reviewers who conduct expert evaluation of submitted materials.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Members of the editorial board and editorial staff.<\/span><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Authors&#8217; use of AI tools.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Authors may use AI tools to improve the quality of their manuscripts, but with the following conditions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Responsibility for Content.<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy, originality, and reliability of all content in their manuscript, including portions created or edited using AI tools. The use of AI does not exempt the author from liability for plagiarism, fabrication, falsification of data, or other violations of academic integrity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Transparency and Disclosure:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Authors are required to clearly indicate in the Acknowledgements or Methods and Data section information about the use of AI tools during manuscript preparation. The name of the AI \u200b\u200btool, its version, and the purpose of use (e.g., for text editing, grammar checking, data analysis, image generation, etc.) should be stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Authorship restrictions:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0AI tools cannot act as authors of manuscripts. Authorship belongs only to individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the research and preparation of the publication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Reviewing generated content:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Authors should carefully review any text, data, or images generated by AI tools for accuracy, relevance to context, and the absence of bias or errors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Use for data analysis.<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0When using AI tools for data analysis, authors should clearly describe the analysis methodology, including the AI \u200b\u200btools used, in the \u201cMethods and Data\u201d section.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Use for image generation.<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0If AI tools were used to generate images or other visual materials, authors should acknowledge this in the captions to the relevant elements and in the \u201cMethods and Data\u201d section.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Use of AI tools by reviewers<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Reviewers may use AI tools to improve the efficiency of the review process, but with the following conditions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Confidentiality:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Reviewers are not allowed to upload confidential manuscript materials (including full text, data, figures, etc.) to AI tools that do not guarantee data confidentiality and security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Objectivity.<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0The use of AI tools should not affect the objectivity and impartiality of the review. The reviewer bears full responsibility for the content of his or her review.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Disclosure:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Reviewers are encouraged to inform the editorial board about the use of AI tools during the preparation of the review, if this has been done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Use of AI tools by editorial board and staff<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The Journal&#8217;s editorial board and staff can use AI tools to optimize editorial processes, such as<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Plagiarism check (using specialized tools).<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Checking formatting and compliance with Journal requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Assistance in selecting potential reviewers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Analysis of trends in scientific publications.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">In doing so, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the principles of confidentiality, data security, and avoidance of biases that may be inherent in some AI tools. Decisions on acceptance or rejection of a manuscript are always made by the editorial board based on scientific merit and compliance with the Journal&#8217;s standards, and not solely on the basis of results obtained using AI tools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Ethical aspects and responsibility<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Plagiarism:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Using text generated by AI tools without proper attribution and\/or without significant editing by the author may be considered plagiarism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Bias:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0AI tools can generate content that contains biases that reflect the data they were trained on. Authors, reviewers, and editorial staff should critically evaluate AI output and avoid spreading biased content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Transparency:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Maximum transparency regarding the use of AI tools is a key element of responsible scientific publication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Responsibility.<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0The ultimate responsibility for compliance with the ethical norms and standards of the Journal lies with the authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Review of violations<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Any identified cases of improper or unethical use of AI tools will be reviewed by the Editorial Board in accordance with the Journal&#8217;s procedures for reviewing publication ethics violations. This may include requesting clarification from the author\/reviewer, rejection of the manuscript, retraction of the published article, or other measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Recommended wording for authors<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">In the article (in the \u201cAcknowledgements\u201d section or in the \u201cMethods and Data\u201d section):<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">\u201c\u00a0<\/span><em><span dir=\"auto\">The AI \u200b\u200btool [name, version] was used for [task] in the preparation of this manuscript. The authors confirm that all data and conclusions are reliable and verified<\/span><\/em><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Recommendations for authors<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Use AI as a supporting tool:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Use AI for editing, translating, or generating individual ideas, but don&#8217;t rely on it to create core content.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Check facts and sources:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0AI can generate false or fabricated information. Always check facts and links, especially if they were generated using AI.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Avoid plagiarism:<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0Using AI does not absolve you from liability for plagiarism.
