{"id":239,"date":"2026-04-29T13:58:26","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T10:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nvdu.snu.edu.ua\/en\/?page_id=239"},"modified":"2026-04-29T13:58:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T10:58:57","slug":"retraction-procedure","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/nvdu.snu.edu.ua\/en\/retraction-procedure\/","title":{"rendered":"Retraction procedure"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"page_title\"><span dir=\"auto\">Retraction procedure<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><em><span dir=\"auto\">This procedure was adopted in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics\u00a0<\/span><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/publicationethics.org\/files\/cope-retraction-guidelines-v2.pdf\"><em><span dir=\"auto\">(COPE\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/publicationethics.org\/files\/cope-retraction-guidelines-v2.pdf\"><span dir=\"auto\">)<\/span><\/a><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">A retraction is a mechanism for correcting published information and alerting readers that a published scientific article contains serious flaws or erroneous data that cannot be trusted. Data inaccuracies can be the result of both accident and deliberate violations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">A scientific article retraction is used to inform readers about cases of duplicate publications (when authors submit the same material to multiple publications), plagiarism, and concealment of conflicts of interest that may have influenced the interpretation of data or recommendations for their use.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The main purpose of retracting a scientific article is to correct and ensure the integrity of the information published in the journal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The main reason and basis for the retraction of an article is a violation of the journal&#8217;s ethical principles, set out in the sections &#187;\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.snu.edu.ua\/index.php\/VisnikSNU\/ethics_policy\"><span dir=\"auto\">Publication Ethics and Editorial Policy<\/span><\/a><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0&#187; and &#187;\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.snu.edu.ua\/index.php\/VisnikSNU\/academic_integrity\"><span dir=\"auto\">Academic Integrity and Ethics Policy<\/span><\/a><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0&#171;:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">The presence of illegal borrowings of the text in a significant amount;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Duplication of an article in several publications;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Detection of fabrication or falsifications in the article (for example, for experimental research data);<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Identification of serious errors in the article (for example, incorrect interpretation of results) that call into question the scientific value of the material;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Incorrect composition of authors (the list of authors includes persons who do not meet the authorship criteria);<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">The authors have a hidden conflict of interest (and other violations of publication ethics);<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Reprinting of the article without the consent of the author;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Other violations of the journal&#8217;s ethical principles.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The reason for withdrawing the article is:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Author&#8217;s request for retraction of the article;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Submission by the editor-in-chief of the journal.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">Procedure for retracting an article:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">1. The decision to withdraw an article is made by the editorial board of the journal upon submission by the editor-in-chief of the journal. The submission must contain information on the existence of grounds for withdrawal of the article specified in these current rules. The decision to withdraw the article is made taking into account the response of the author of the article, justifying his position on the issue of withdrawal of the article (provided that this response is received).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">2. If the author\/author team considers it necessary to retract the article, they shall contact the editorial office, explaining the reason for their decision. The editorial office shall respond to the authors and may:<\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">a) reject the request for retraction, explaining the reason for their decision;<\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">b) suggest that the authors publish corrections;<\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">c) if there are grounds, recommend a complete retraction of the article. In this case, the editorial office shall carry out the retraction independently.<\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">The decision on retraction shall be made by a majority vote at a meeting of the editorial board. The meeting shall be held once a month (on the last Friday of the month). The meeting may be held both offline and online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">3. If the editorial board decides to withdraw the text of the article based on its own expertise or information received by the editorial board, the author\/author team is informed about this and a response is expected from the author. If the author\/author team ignores the editorial board&#8217;s request, the editorial board has the right to retract the publication without taking into account the author&#8217;s opinion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">4. The decision to withdraw an article is formalized in the minutes of the meeting of the editorial board of the journal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">5. Having decided to withdraw the article, the editorial board indicates the reason for the retraction (in case of detection of plagiarism &#8212; with an indication of the source of borrowing), as well as the date of retraction. The article and the description of the article remain on the journal\u2019s website as part of the corresponding issue of the journal, but the electronic version of the text is marked with the inscription \u201cWITHDRAWN\u201d and the date of retraction. The same mark is placed in the article and in the table of contents of the issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">6. The editor-in-chief of the journal draws up the minutes of the meeting of the editorial board of the journal, which indicates the date of the meeting, the composition of those present, the results of the examination, the reasoned decision and the completed form:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Author&#8217;s full name and article title<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Title, volume, issue and year of publication of the text being retracted<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Initiator of the article retraction<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Reason for withdrawal of the article and date of decision<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Link to the page on the publication&#8217;s website that provides information about the retraction<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Article source data and DOI<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"show\"><span dir=\"auto\">Topic of the article<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">7. The author (lead author in the case of collective authorship) is sent the minutes of the meeting of the editorial board of the journal with a statement justifying the reason for the withdrawal of the article.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">8. The editorial board of the journal, simultaneously with the decision to withdraw the article, may decide to impose a ban on accepting articles from the author of the retracted article for publication for a certain period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">9. Information about the retraction of an article is posted on the journal&#8217;s website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">10. The appeal is considered by the editor-in-chief within 14 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><u><span dir=\"auto\">Consequences of retraction:<\/span><\/u><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">\u2013 the retracted article remains in the archive of this scientific publication with the appropriate designation;<\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">\u2013 the retraction is notified to: the authors of the article; indexing databases; scientometric databases; the interested scientific community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><u><span dir=\"auto\">Authors have the right to:<\/span><\/u><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">\u2013 receive a detailed justification for the decision to retract;<\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">\u2013 file an appeal against the commission&#8217;s decision;<\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\">\u2013 publish a comment on the decision to retract.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Retraction procedure This procedure was adopted in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics\u00a0(COPE\u00a0)\u00a0.
